Arijit Bhattacharya

Ph.D. Psychology

 

Arijit Bhattacharya is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Psychology, Ashoka University, working under the supervision of Dr Dipanjan Ray and the co-supervision of Dr Suvarna Alladi (NIMHANS) in collaboration with the National Brain Research Centre (NBRC). He is also an OxCIN Global Scholar 2025-26 at the Oxford Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging, The University of Oxford. His research focuses on the intersection of neuroimaging and cognitive neuroscience, integrating advanced statistical modelling with MR Spectroscopy and fMRI to investigate the neural bases of emotion, music cognition, and neuropsychological conditions such as depression.

Arijit graduated with a BTech and an MTech in Biotechnology from the School of Biotechnology, KIIT Deemed to be University, with a dissertation from the Department of Neurology, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS). He has also completed a one-year online MicroBachelors programme in Neuroscience from Harvard University.

Beyond academia, Arijit is a flute player, a disciple of Sitar Maestro Pt Purbayan Chatterjee and flutist Vidushi Debopriya Chatterjee. He also writes on neuroscience and music in his blog, The Musical Brains.
