Aritri Chakrabarti’s main research interests lie in the fields of animal and animality studies, history of veterinary science and medicine, environmental history and history of colonialism in South Asia. She graduated in History from erstwhile Presidency College, Kolkata (Presidency University) in 2013. She obtained her Masters and MPhil degrees in History from University of Delhi in 2015 and 2018 respectively. She wrote her MPhil dissertation on the history of livestock management and veterinary interventions in colonial Bengal in the 19th and early 20th century. Aritri speaks Bengali and has elementary proficiency in Sanskrit, Persian and Assamese. She has worked as a research assistant in a few research projects with Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health. She has also worked as a guest lecturer in History in Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College, Kolkata.
