Devapriya Roy is an alumnus of Presidency College, Calcutta, and Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where she wrote a PhD thesis on Bharata’s Natyashastra. She is the author of three novels: The Vague Woman’s Handbook, The Weight Loss Club and Friends from College, a version of which was serialised in The Telegraph for forty-two weeks. In 2015, she published The Heat and Dust Project, co-written with Saurav Jha, a travel-memoir based on their travels around India on a very tight budget, and in 2018 she collaborated with the artist Priya Kuriyan to create Indira, a graphic biography of Indira Gandhi. In addition to ICT, Roy has also taught creative writing courses at Ashoka University in the past and continues to mentor creative writing students.
