Govind is a management graduate from Mumbai University. However, having developed a healthy quotient of interest in social sciences overtime, he decided to pivot and find a segue into a relevant sector. In September 2019, as part of Young Leaders For Active Citizenship’s Policy in Action programme, he worked on a policy brief for a sitting member of parliament on the issue of access to water and sanitation facilities in urban areas, with a specific focus on women and girls based in Mumbai. His experience piqued his interest in engaging, in detail, with disciplines closer to policy, history, political science, economics, and their intersections. Specifically, he is intent on facilitating academic research, field work and community outreach and hopes to advance suitably through the Young India Fellowship.
Throughout his time in school and college, he participated in extracurricular activities ranging from singing and drama to debates, writing as well as public speaking. He also happens to have assumed a number of leadership roles, in college, as part of the magazine committee, the cultural forum and the alumni association. A significant portion of his day is spent in exploring books, films and music. He likes his tea without ginger, and passionately argues for it with anyone who disagrees!
