Ishita Chigilli Palli

YIF Class of 2021

B.A. Journalism
Manipal Academy of Higher Education

Ishita believes that everything in life is transient. Growing up, she moved around a lot, making new friends and signing up for new activities everywhere she went. Every time she had to make this shift, she could discover more about herself, unlocking abilities she didn’t know she had.

She graduated with a degree in Journalism, but that wasn’t enough. She wanted to learn more, know more, understand various fields, and broaden her academic knowledge. This is what brought her to the Young India Fellowship. In her college days, being an AIESEC member she got the chance to interact with some truly inspirational people and realised the importance of peer-learning, teamwork, and leadership.

She has been an ocean lover since a very young age. The connection she felt with nature grew with every trek, camping trip, and dive. She is at home when she’s swimming and beaches are her natural habitat. She loves to sing, though she has been told by many people that she is indeed tone-deaf. While working as a Breaking News Correspondent at Reuters, she found that her view of the world was challenged with every new headline. It was then that she decided she wanted to work in the social sector and bring about positive change through public policy.
