Jyotirmoy Talukdar

English Language Adviser to the Dean of Academic Affairs, Ashoka University

Jyotirmoy Talukdar teaches in the Academic Bridge Programme for incoming undergraduate students at Ashoka University. He was also part of the founding team of the Preparatory Module for the Young India Fellowship and continues to teach in the programme. Jyotirmoy teaches sections of the Foundation Course Introduction to Critical Thinking that are tailored to the needs of English-language learners. He also teaches courses in professional communication for Ashoka staff members. Together with Dr Devapriya Roy (Undergraduate Writing Programme) and Dr Annie Baxi (Department of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences), he runs Circle of Roy, a picture-book reading circle that uses illustrated literature to foster communication skills, emotional awareness and the sheer joy of reading. As English Language Adviser to the Dean of Academic Affairs, he advises on English language teaching and learning needs across the university. He is a translator between Assamese and English, and writes opinion pieces in both languages.
