Dr Krishnaswamy VijayRaghavan is DAE Homi Bhabha Professor and former Director of the National Centre for Biological Sciences. He previously served as Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India. His research spans developmental biology, genetics, and neurogenetics — particularly the mechanisms that control the nervous system and muscles during development and their role in locomotor behaviour. He is a Fellow of the Indian Science Academies, a Fellow of the Royal Society (elected 2012), a foreign member of the US National Academy of Sciences, and was conferred the Padma Shri in 2013.
