Kashvi Juneja

YIF Class of 2022

B.A. (Honours) Liberal Arts
Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai

Kashvi has always been a strong advocate for mental health causes as it’s both a personal and public issue. Being a psychology student, she has learnt that psychologists have to be “objective” with clients but wonders if these very psychologists who often come from a privileged background can choose to deny the reality of their clients under the garb of objectivity? Hence, she realised that fighting selectively for mental health issues is pointless without acknowledging the socio-economic disadvantages different sections of society face. For example, talking about the mental health of the disabled without talking about societal expectations produced by capitalism is unhelpful. She believes that selective activism does more harm than good and that one needs to look at all angles of a story.
