Lamiya was born and brought up in a small village in Kerala. She has always been a hardworking student. Her curiosity in science made her pursue BSc Biology with a minor in Data and Computing from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. It was during those days in college that Lamiya was attracted to and found more meaning to learning social sciences. She didn’t want to confine herself to only biology, rather wanted to expand her horizon. This encouraged her to take courses like India’s Futures, How India Works, earns and spends, Working with Data, etc.
She thinks she is lucky to have had a quality education from Sobha Icon and Azim Premji University. She believes she has a responsibility to pay back to the philanthropic efforts of Mr. PNC Menon Mr. Azim Premji by making a positive impact in society. Her keen interest in learning multiple subjects and skills, and her need to be a better person every day is what drove her to join the Young India Fellowship.
She is up for any heartfelt conversation and experimenting with all kinds of food. She is always a good listener. Lamiya gets happier when others laugh at her lame jokes and like to laugh as well, andloves singing.
