Malay’s research interest lies in folk narratives: fables, wonder tales (folk/fairy tales), legends, folk epics etc. He is currently working on the mother-monster dichotomy in the characterization of cannibals in Wonder Tales from colonial Bengal. He is looking into the South Asian understanding of cannibalism through these narratives. He has worked on Khasi morphology, titled Tense, Aspect and Mood in Khasi. His broader interests span across Children’s Literature, Dalit Literature, Translation studies, and Classical Literature.
