Simons-Ashoka Early Career Fellow,
Mentor: Gautam Menon, Professor of Physics & Biology, Ashoka University
Co-mentor: Lalit Dandona, Distinguished Research Professor, PHFI, India & Prof. of Health Metrics, Univ. of Washington, Seattle, USA.

MBBS, IPGMER-SSKM Hospital, Kolkata & PhD, IGIB, New Delhi

Mayank is a physician scientist currently with Ashoka University as a Simons Ashoka Early Career Fellow. After completing his medical graduation and clinical training from IPGME&R and SSKM Hospital, Kolkata, he gained brief experience in intensive care, before switching to experimental research. His PhD work from CSIR-IGIB, Delhi involved dissecting the molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of Acute Lung Injury in rodent models. With a realisation that experimental models require the right context for translation, he started exploring the immersive world of health data.

Mayank aims to derive mechanisms to leverage data science in a clinically relevant manner, and to identify contextual application of experimental models. He believes in the potential of digital transformation in personal empowerment, for improving health-care, sick-care, and clinical research. He strongly advocates for collaborative growth and strict ethical standards as the foundation for advancing science.
