Research Area: Indian Literatures; Bhakti Literature

Nitya Pawar’s broad research interests are Indian Philosophy, Literary Theory, Mysticism, Medieval Literature, and Translation Studies. In particular, she works on Bhakti Literature. She has produced a dissertation titled “Namdev: Here and There,” which looks at the relationship between translation and mobility through Sant Namdev’s poems and publics. The question of ‘movement,’ with its multiple meanings and the construction of self ties her research together.
