Olaug Svarva is a distinguished Norwegian financial leader with extensive experience in investment management, corporate governance and financial markets. She served as Chief Executive Officer of Folketrygdfondet, the manager of Norway’s Government Pension Fund Norway, from 2006 to 2018, having first joined the organisation in 1991 and previously held several senior investment roles.
She has also held senior leadership positions at SpareBank 1 Aktiv Forvaltning and SpareBank 1 Livsforsikring, and has served on the boards of several prominent institutions. She is currently Chair of Norfund, the Norwegian investment fund for developing countries, and has also served as Chair of DNB and as a board member of organisations including Investinor and the Institute of International Finance.
Olaug holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Denver and is an authorised portfolio manager. Her career reflects decades of leadership across investment management, financial institutions and international development.
