Ph.D. Psychology
Paridhi Verma is a PhD candidate in the department of Psychology. She has a master’s degree in Cognitive Science. She wants to explore one of the most complex and fascinating aspects of human existence: the mind. Primarily my research interests are wide-ranging but here at Ashoka, She is trying to explore children’s cognitive, behavioural, and socioemotional development and the brain architecture behind it using the lens of a father-centric perspective. With the change in the social climate, She feels it is essential that we have some father-centric approach (along with mothers) to help a child reach his optimal development. Additionally, she is working with Dr. Madhavi Maganti at Ashoka University on multiple projects of the Many Babies consortium where she is investigating the early traces of theory of mind in infants. She is also looking into the factors that shape infants’ preferences for familiar and novel stimuli.
She completed her bachelor’s in psychology and M.Sc. in Cognitive Sciences from CBCS, Allahabad, and has explored various cognitive processes like decision-making, emotion, and memory and hopes to expand this work in the future.
