Philip Cherian

Phd in Physics

Philip received his undergraduate degree in Physics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, and completed his postgraduate studies at both the École polytechnique and the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, majoring in Theoretical Physics. He is also quite interested in the history of science, and was a Research Scholar at Columbia University for a year, where he worked with the Making and Knowing Project, a research initiative that explores the intersection of artistic making and scientific knowledge. From 2017 to 2020, he worked extensively with the Physics Department at Ashoka University as a Teaching Fellow, and was actively involved in developing the undergraduate laboratory courses. He was also a visiting faculty of Physics at the Young India Fellowship in 2020. As a Graduate Student at Ashoka, he works on modelling the spread of COVID-19. His research interests are quite diverse, and include astronomy, epidemiology, and improving science education at the undergraduate level.
