Piotr Balcerowicz is a Professor of Philosophy and South Asian Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Warsaw. He studied in Poland (University of Warsaw) and India (Banaras Hindu University), obtained his PhD from the University of Hamburg (Germany) and his post-doctoral degree (‘habilitation’) from the Polish Academy of Sciences. He has published widely on Indian philosophy and religions as well as on politics and conflicts in Central Asia, Afghanistan and the Middle East, including eight authored and eleven edited/coedited books, the most recent of which are Early Asceticism in India. Ajivikism and Jainism (Routledge 2016) and History of Classical Indian Philosophy. Part Three: Non-Brahmanical Schools – Ajivikism and Jainism (Warsaw 2016).
