B.A. Journalism
MOP Vaishnav College for Women

Poorna is a student of Journalism from M.O.P. Vaishnav College, Chennai. Her interest in environment, culture, social issues and social structures, and just human nature has fueled her many ambitions and pursuits.

She has a keen interest in writing, media, and has pursued numerous internships in fields such as digital marketing, advertising and journalism. She was also the youngest participant in the prestigious National Geographic Slow Journalism Camp held in the Asian College of Journalism, heralded by Pulitzer Prize Winner Paul Salopek.

Her curiosity and interest in further learning and growing led her to the Young India Fellowship (YIF). Seeking the knowledge and means to carry out the changes she wishes to see, she believes the YIF will equip her to build a better tomorrow for socially disadvantaged classes. She wishes to work closely in social sector and development-related projects. She hopes that YIF will provide her the much-needed experience and insight to solve real-world dilemmas.

Poorna also has a deep interest in social work and education and has volunteered at numerous related organisations over the years. She has been a student of the classical dance (Bharatanatyam) for over 10 years and is always ready to talk about music!
