Prerana Nanjappa

YIF Class of 2021

B.A. Media Studies, Economics and Political Science
Christ University

Prerana comes from a multidisciplinary background, it was difficult for her to seemingly separate herself to a singular perspective and thus, joined the Fellowship. Her previous research work includes her role as an investigative reporter on the employment laws for street vendors in KR Market, Bangalore and presentation of her research paper titled ‘Cinema – A Gateway to Power Politics in Tamil Nadu’ at BITS Pilani, KK Birla campus. She has also worked as an intern for Deccan Herald, a leading news organisation in Bangalore in 2018. As a research intern in Ramaiah Public Policy Center in 2019, she worked extensively on inter-state migration in India. During the completion of her undergraduation, she wrote her thesis on “Roadblocks to Green Markets, A Policy Perspective”, focusing on local and informal urban economy.

Much of her leisure time is spent in reading, colouring or gardening. She is an avid follower of F1 and enjoys spending her weekends watching the race. She immensely enjoys film appreciation and advertising. Given her diverse set of interests, she believes that learning is spontaneous and requires one to reflect more than think. And this enables her to constantly put herself in intellectually uncomfortable spaces to work and rework.
