Raginee Sarmah

ICT Instructor, Undergraduate Writing Programme, Ashoka University

Raginee Sarmah completed her Masters in English from the Centre for English Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her research interests lie in corporeality studies, the relationship between Marxism and literary practice, South Asian literary studies, and questions surrounding social reproduction of labour. Her MA dissertation, based on a banned Urdu anthology called Angarey, sought to deal with questions regarding literary progressivism in India by mapping the representation and treatment of bodies in the text. Before beginning her stint as a writing instructor, she was a part of the editorial team at Primus Books. Having been involved in academic publishing, she is fascinated by the aesthetics and rigours of book production.

In the classroom, she meditates on the creative and disruptive possibilities that the space creates and looks forward to thinking about the world with her students.
