Razi Shaikh is a writing instructor at UWP. He has previously taught academic writing at an Istanbul university. His career has spanned journalism and academia alike, with brief stints in copywriting and graphic design. His media background informs his teaching methods, wherein the written word shares and even cedes space to other art forms in the classroom. Rather than reducing academia to abstract, irrelevant, and irrelatable musings, he prefers to bring it home, using the vast arsenal of academic tools to shine light on the everyday. He is a passionate believer in heutagogy (a word he has only learnt recently), terrible puns (a habit that refuses to leave him), and in ‘being awake’, in the classroom and beyond.
