Usually quiet and observant, Shahana believes herself to be an empathetic person and regards kindness as the greatest virtue. Her interests include reading poetry, watching historical documentaries and learning more about the world. She hails from a family with roots in Hindustani Classical music. She loves singing and writes songs sometimes. After completing her M.A. in English Literature, she discovered her passion for teaching when she taught at a local engineering college. She undertook a Bachelor’s degree in Education to hone her skills further. Shahana taught several batches of talented and energetic middle school students for two years. While she enjoyed being a facilitator to bright young minds, she missed being a student. The interdisciplinary aspect of the YIF programme resonated with the kind of learning experience Shahana had sought for her entire academic journey. She hopes that this opportunity will unlock new experiences and avenues on her quest for exploration – of the self and the world.
