Sameer is an early-stage venture investor in over 75 companies. He is a managing director at Nexus Venture Partners, which is India’s largest homegrown early-stage VC fund with ~$3B in AUM. At Nexus, he opened and leads their Bengaluru office. His operational expertise is in product management, business development, sales acceleration, recruiting, follow-on fundraising, and scaling.

He has led investments in inception or early stages at Postman, Unacademy, Hasura.io, Infra.market, PayTM, Zomato (via Runnr), Slice, Bira91, Licious, Pristyn Care, Triomics, Animall, Ultrahuman, EpiFI, Rocketlane, CapGrid, Aurva.io, Zolo, Quandl (Nasdaq), Newton School, Jumbotail, Vahak, Blue Tokai, Slurrp Farm, Joveo, Tessolve Semiconductor amongst several others.

He is the founder and managing partner at Breakthrough Capital, Broadbridge Capital Management, and Firestone Capital Management (his vehicles to invest in listed and private tech companies globally). He is also a founder at Plaksha University which aims to re-imagine technology education and research in India.

Sameer is a Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellow at the Aspen Institute (equivalent of the Henry Crown Fellows) and member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN). He is also an OnDeck Health Fellow, Kautilya Fellow, Member of FT’s Climate Capital Council, Global Panel Member at MIT Tech Review, and a member of VC Sector Core Council at the Indian Venture Capital Association. He also serves on the advisory board of the Digital Fifth, as an advisor to AngelList India, Advisory Board member at Village Global, advisor to Microsoft Ventures India, and was voted as ’40 under 40 Alternative Investment Professionals’ in India by IAAIF.

Sameer’s past experiences include being a founding member at Reliance Ventures (Reliance Group’s venture arm) and as an operator at Ericsson AB, UTStarcom Inc, and American Wireless Broadband. He has a BS in computer engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago where he was an International Scholar and Founders Scholar.
