Sampurna’s work sits at the intersection of environmental research and critical data studies. As a Smitu Kothari Fellow (2025), she examined foreign financing flows for waste-to-energy infrastructure and their socioeconomic impacts on marginalised groups. She has previously worked with GAIA, the Andaman Forest Department, and Kachrewaale Foundation, on policy and environmental research, web and database development, and building interactive visualisation tools. She’s worked on an Mphasis Lab-funded study investigating how argumentative writing is mediated by AI, and taught Type Design as Visiting Faculty at Ashoka. As a writing and communication pedagogue, she aims to build classrooms where authority is shared rather than consolidated, with critical listening at its core – teaching students to isolate perspectives and logics different from their own, engage fairly, and disagree thoughtfully. 

In her spare time, she loves tinkering with new tech tools, obsessing over good UI, lifting, and swimming.
