Sandeep Bhardwaj

Sandeep Bhardwaj is finishing up his PhD in international history from Ashoka University, India. His research examines India’s role in the making of the post-colonial regional order in Asia after the Second World War. He has just finished a year at Yale as a Fulbright Scholar. Initially trained as a software engineer, he earned his masters in International Relations from the University of Chicago. He has worked for a decade as a foreign policy researcher in several Indian think tanks. His longest stint was at the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi, where his work blended historical and policy research. He has worked on the Official History of the Kargil War for the Indian Ministry of Defence. He has also worked as a newspaper correspondent and a documentary script-writer. He has written opinion pieces for several media outlets including The Hindu, Open, Mint, The Indian Express and The Print.
