Sanjay Jain

Sanjay Jain is External Professor at the Santa Fe Institute, Santa Fe, NM, USA and a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences. He was formerly Senior Professor and Head, Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi; Addie and Harold Broitman Member at the Simons Center for Systems Biology, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, NJ, USA; and Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. His current research interests are in the field of complex systems, especially the physics of life, the origin of life problem and the collapse of highly networked systems. His earlier work is in the areas of string theory, quantum field theory, quantum gravity, statistical mechanics and quantumm chaos. He did his B.Sc. Physics (Hons.) at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi; M.Sc. at the Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi; and Ph.D. at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. His post-doctoral work was done at Brown and Harvard Universities.
