Born in the small city of Vaikom, Kerala, and raised in Surat, Sarath represents an amalgamation of both South Indian and North Indian cultures. He is an aspiring filmmaker and a Computer Science Engineer by education.
Having a knack for performing arts, he was a regular performer in Annual days in school as a singer, dancer and also wrote and directed plays for various school events including the English skit for his Annual school day. His exposure to Malayalam cinema in his schooldays and his interest in writing plays is what he feels sowed the early seeds of his interest in filmmaking.
He then went on to pursue engineering and had to take a slight break for a while to focus on his studies. Getting placed in Amazon Web Services is what he feels brought his confidence back to get on stage where he went on to venture into standup comedy and became the go-to stand-up comedian for the official events. He also directed his first short film during this time.
He plans to use the Young India Fellowship as a platform for his transition from corporate to the field of filmmaking and screenwriting and work closely with his peers and faculy to help him evolve as a storyteller.
