PhD in Sociology and Anthropology
Shahin Afrin completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Sociology at Delhi University and Ambedkar University, Delhi. For her postgraduate dissertation, titled ‘Nodi Mathu Boi: Environmentalism and Vulnerable Citizenship in Guwahati’, she conducted fieldwork around a displacement drive carried out in the city of Guwahati.
Her PhD research focuses on the politics of space in the northeastern states of India, particularly around the redrawing of electoral constituencies in Assam and its changing grassroots politics.
