Shoikat is currently an Associate Director with BCG’s Social Impact Practice, leads a team of 15-20 consultants, and has led BCG’s work with several state governments including Delhi, Jharkhand, Punjab, Odisha, and Rajasthan. Currently, Shoikat is working with Govt. of Delhi to help them conceptualise and implement the Schools of Specialised Excellence that attempts to create a unique set of secondary schools (under a new Board) that provides specialised education to students in subjects ranging from music and performing arts to robotics and interdisciplinary studies. Shoikat is also working with Govt. of Punjab to develop and implement a strategy to diversify agriculture away from paddy and reduce stubble burning.
Shoikat has extensive experience in foreign policy, public policy, strategic advisory, and large-scale public sector transformation, particularly in school education, higher education & skilling, agriculture, & employment generation. Prior to this, Shoikat has worked on issues related to long-term public school transformation, setting up new Universities, employment generation, and also consulted with NITI Aayog on topics like Direct Benefits Transfer of Subsidies. Shoikat has experience representing India at the United Nations in New York and has taught a course on Data Analytics to undergraduate students at Delhi Skill & Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) previously.
He holds a B.Tech from Manipal University and a Masters in Global Affairs from the University of Toronto. Outside work, Shoikat’s interests and passions cut across football, dance, scuba diving, and astrophysics, among others!
