Shubham studies nineteenth-century Indian literature. Specifically, he looks at what the introduction of the English language did to the literary, political, and socio-cultural landscape of the time. His other interests include translation studies, literary theory, popular culture studies, cinema, and gender and sexuality studies. He aims to work across English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.
