Subroto Banerjee is a PhD student in Economics at Ashoka University. He holds an MSc in Economics from Shiv Nadar University and a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Delhi College of Arts & Commerce, University of Delhi. Before joining Ashoka University, Subroto worked as a Research Associate at the RBI Chair Unit at IIM Bangalore and held research positions at IIT Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad University. His research experience spans monetary economics, political economy, public finance, and policy evaluation, employing methods including DSGE modelling, VARs, local projections, panel-data methods, and causal inference. Prior to his research career, he worked as a Management Trainee at Genpact, where he served as a Project Manager for the Machine Learning Incubator under the One AI Talent Development Team. His current research focuses on the distributional effects of monetary policy, inflation dynamics, household consumption, and price-setting behaviour across the income distribution. More broadly, he is interested in the micro foundations of macroeconomic outcomes, heterogeneity across households and firms, and heterogeneous-agent macroeconomic models (HANK).
