Uma Shankar Bhartia is the chairman and managing director of the India Glycols Limited, the flagship company of the Bhartia Group. Under his stewardship, the company grew from a $150 million to a $550 million business. Uma received the ‘Business Leader of the Year – Innovation’ award in 2013 at Chemtech Foundation’s CEW Leadership and Excellence Awards, as well as the Udyog Ratna award in 2005.
Under his leadership, the Bhartia Group runs a number of philanthropic initiatives, providing financial and logistical support to various human causes. Uma has a graduate degree in commerce, with honours, from Kolkata University.
