Veena Kumar

Veena Kumar is a Bharatanatyam dancer, educator, and choreographer with extensive experience in Indian classical and folk dance traditions. She is a Visiting Faculty in Performing Arts at Ashoka University, where she teaches courses in dance, performance, and movement studies while mentoring students in creative and interdisciplinary practices.

A trained Bharatanatyam artist with a Post Diploma in the Kalakshetra style and a Senior Diploma from Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, Veena is a recipient of the Sanskriti Madhobi Chatterji Memorial Fellowship. She has performed at prestigious venues and festivals, including the Commonwealth Games, India Habitat Centre, India International Centre, Kamani Auditorium, and the Chinnamelam Dance Festival.

Committed to preserving and promoting India’s rich dance heritage, Veena combines performance, teaching, and research in her practice. Through her work, she strives to inspire artistic excellence, cultural appreciation, and meaningful engagement with classical dance traditions.
