Vinod Scaria, a trailblazing computational biologist and co-founder of GUaRDIAN, India’s prominent rare disease network, brings his groundbreaking expertise to Ashoka University. With an illustrious career spanning diverse genomics research, including pioneering population genomics projects and unravelling genetic insights in varied populations, Scaria is a valuable addition to Ashoka’s faculty.

Having earned his medical degree from Calicut Medical College and a PhD in Computational Biology from the University of Pune, Scaria has authored 200+ publications and holds editorial roles in esteemed journals. His accolades, including the CSIR Young Scientist and Kavli Frontiers of Science awards, underscore his profound contributions to the field. As an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and Public Health, Scaria’s presence enriches Ashoka’s academic landscape. He will be teaching a course on “Digital Genetic Epidemiology.”
