Vivek Tripathi is a Visiting Faculty in Hindi at Ashoka University. He holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, and a Master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His teaching and research focus on Hindi as a Second Language (HSL), applied linguistics, second language acquisition, Hindi grammar and semantics, and language pedagogy. Over the past several years, he has taught Hindi to learners from more than twenty countries, working with students, researchers, diplomats, and professionals from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
His research seeks to bridge linguistic theory and classroom practice by developing more effective approaches to teaching Hindi to adult learners. He has designed a range of digital and AI-assisted tools for Hindi pedagogy that support speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary development, and classroom instruction. His academic interests also extend to curriculum design and the role of technology in language education, with a particular emphasis on creating research-informed learning environments that are both accessible and culturally grounded.
In addition to his research, Dr. Tripathi has authored several books for learners of Hindi, including instructional materials designed for adult second-language learners. His recent non-fiction work, I Can and I Will, explores the role of mindset and perseverance in personal growth, and he is currently developing 365 Cultural Stories, a textbook that introduces learners to Indian culture through authentic narratives.
