The Resident Assistant (RA) Programme at Ashoka University

The Resident Assistant (RA) Programme at Ashoka University lies at the intersection of responsibility and empathy, working quietly yet decisively to ensure that every student feels supported, heard, and at home. Rooted in Ashoka’s broader vision of fostering self-governance, diversity, and responsible citizenship, the programme plays a central role in shaping the residential experience on campus.

At its core, the RA Programme is designed to build safe, inclusive, and engaged communities within the residence halls. Typically, one to two Resident Assistants are assigned to each floor, where they take on both administrative responsibilities and, more importantly, serve as the first point of support for the students. Their role extends beyond coordination, they act as connectors and trusted peers, helping students navigate both everyday challenges and more complex personal concerns.

The programme is supported by Resident Assistant Coordinators (RACs) and RA Mentors, who guide and supervise the RAs. Working closely with the Dean (Office of Student Affairs) and the Director (Residence Life Office), the RACs help shape and strengthen the programme, while also serving as accessible mentors for students navigating residence and campus life.
