Ashoka University’s undergraduate course curriculum is taught across three semesters: Spring, Summer and Monsoon (Fall). Courses are broadly divided into three categories – Foundation Courses (core curriculum), Major & Minor Courses and Co-Curricular Courses.

Foundation courses are offered in all semesters and do not have prerequisites. Offerings in other categories differ in each semester. Some higher level major/minor courses may have prerequisites.

Quantitative Reasoning and Mathematical Thinking

In this course we will get an overview of some concepts in Mathematics and their uses in our life.  The course will start with a discussion on our mathematical abilities and goes on to introduce numbers as they were used by different civilizations.  We will then go on to understand what mathematical statements are and then onwards use them for some concepts in trigonometry, geometry, graph theory.  We will get practical skills such as estimation, learn the theory about making fair choices and learn all about power and how to put a number on power wielded by different groups.  This course has a stress-free sit back, relax and work model.
