Medical Services on Campus

Access to physical health-care services including information and education services-

Ashoka University has its own 16 bedded Infirmary set-up for primary healthcare. Infirmary is located at the Sports Complex and provides free First Aid and medical assistance, to the students, faculty and staff, round the clock.

  1. The infirmary is well equipped and manned by our medical partner Blue Circle Medi Services Pvt. Ltd since inception of Ashoka.
  2. Well-qualified and experienced Resident Doctors run OPD hours in the infirmary as per the prescribed schedule.
  3. The Infirmary has one MD doctor and three MBBS doctors. There are qualified nurses deployed and ambulance drivers deployed at the Infirmary.
  4. The cost of prescribed medicines and medical tests are borne by the patient.
  5. All students of the University are covered under an medical insurance of INR 1.5  Lacs of Care Health insurance, applicable upon hospitalization of 24 hours or more.
  6. Visiting physiotherapist comes on Campus thrice a week.
  7. Visiting gynecologist comes on Campus once a week.
  8. Ashoka has tie-ups with Max hospital on Pan India basis and locally with FIMS, Tulip and Nidaan hospital, in case higher intervention is needed. These hospitals offer discounts on OPD consultation.

The Campus is equipped with two 24X7 ambulances.  One patient transport ambulance (PTA) and one Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance are available. The PTA is equipped with an oxygen cylinder and first aid kit. The BLS ambulance is equipped with oxygen cylinders, scoop stretcher, suction apparatus, IV stand, provision for AED.

Ambulance assistance would be provided only in case of any medical emergency and need for hospitalization. On such occasions the matter is reported to concerned authorities immediately by the nursing staff. In case of hospitalization of a student the nurse/general duty attendant will stay at the hospital with the student till discharge from hospital.

The Infirmary is equipped with medical equipments like ECG machine, Automated External Defibrillator, suction apparatus, Ambu bag, Oxygen Cylinders, Oxygen Concentrators, Stethoscopes, BP Machines, Glucometer, Steamers, Nebulizers, Wheel Chairs, Stretchers and a few Physiotherapy Equipments.

There are various regular use OTC medicines available at the Infirmary and few vaccines. The medicines are arranged for students, staff, faculty on request within 24-48 hours.

Wheelchairs and first aid boxes are kept across various locations on Campus. 

All dining, food outlets and pantry staff deworming is done six-monthly and they have been administered typhoid vaccination.

Advisories are sent to Campus on diseases/illnesses like dengue, viral fever, heat stroke, covid on a time to time basis highlighting the symptoms and prevention of the disease.

General health check-up camp was organized free of cost for all outsourced staff on Campus by Max Hospital at our Campus in the month of April 2023. Total 501 outsourced staff members got their health check-up done. The health check-up camp  covered random Blood Sugar, BP, Bone Densitometry test, Height, Weight, General Physician Consultation. ECG was done wherever advised by the doctor.

Cardiology camp was conducted on Campus in November 2022 by Dr.K.K.Talwar and Dr.Nirmal Ghati from PSRI Hospital, Delhi. Dr. K.K.Talwar is the chairman of PSRI hospital and is a renowned cardiologist. He has been honored by the government of India by the Padma Bhushan award in 2006 for his contributions in medicine.

They delivered a health talk on health tips for a healthy heart. This was followed by OPD consultation for students, staff and faculty.

Sexual and Reproductive Health-care Services

Ashoka University has a visiting gynecologist coming to Campus once a week for OPD consultations.

Gynecology camp was organized on Campus in Feb’23 by Dr. Seema Jain, Director and Head, Dept. of Gyne and Obstetrics at Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh. The camp was organized for all  faculty, staff, students and outsourced staff. 

Dr. Seema Jain delivered a talk on preventive healthcare in women. She emphasized on how women need to take care of their health at all stages of life, evaluation of individual health risk factors, use of appropriate screening tests, immunization and counseling regarding diet and exercise.

To take proactive steps to manage what you eat, how much exercise you do, how you manage stress and changing hormones in the body. She emphasized on BP, diabetes control, cholesterol test, thyroid disorders and treatment, heart health in women, Osteoporosis screening, She explained Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and its treatment. Also polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) causes, symptoms and treatment was explained. Menopause and its types and management was explained by Dr. Seema Jain. She also touched upon cervical cancer prevention, screening and vaccination. The breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment was explained to the audience.

The talk was followed by a two hour OPD consultation by Dr. Seema Jain.
