Call for Applications: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mathematics (2026–27)

Department of Mathematics, Ashoka University

The Department of Mathematics at Ashoka University invites applications for its Postdoctoral Fellowship for the academic year 2026–27. We welcome researchers from all areas of mathematics to apply. Candidates working in Geometric Group Theory are particularly encouraged.

Fellowship Benefits

  • Stipend: ₹80,000 per month + 9% HRA
  • Travel Grant: ₹1,00,000 per year for national and international conferences
  • Equipment Allowance: ₹1,60,000 for purchasing research equipment

How to Apply

Before starting your application, please connect with a prospective faculty mentor within the department to discuss research alignment. You can explore our faculty’s profiles on the Department of Mathematics website.

Once you have identified a mentor and secured their approval, please email the following application package to math@ashoka.edu.in:

  • Cover Letter: Specifying your prospective mentor and highlighting how your research interests align.
  • Curriculum Vitae: Detailing your academic background, publications, and the contact information of 3 referees.
  • Research Proposal: A joint proposal drafted alongside your mentor (maximum 2 pages, single-spaced) covering the background, key objectives, and significance of your proposed project.
  • Academic Certificates: Copies of your PhD and Master’s degree certificates, along with any other relevant documentation.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Two letters sent directly to the email address listed above by two of your referees.

Please note:

  • Application Deadline: August 31, 2026, by 5:00 PM (IST)
  • Start Date: Mutually agreed upon after selection, with the possibility to start as early as October 1, 2026.
  • Duration: Initial appointment for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second year based on performance evaluation.
