Peter and Adrienne Barris Chair and Professor of Computer Science, Northwestern UniversitySamir Khuller’s work is in the areas of Algorithm Design, specifically in graph algorithms, combinatorics, scheduling, and approximation algorithms. His research is motivated by algorithmic questions arising in the context of data storage, communication, clustering, and load balancing. He has published widely on these areas and has advised a number of graduate and undergraduate students who worked on these topics. From 2003 to 2008, he was the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in Computer Science at the University of Maryland, and from 2012 to 2017, he was the inaugural Elizabeth Iribe Chair for Computer Science at the University of Maryland. In 2019, he joined Northwestern Computer Science, a newly created independent Computer Science department, where he is currently the Peter and Adrienne Barris Chair for Computer Science and a Professor in the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science.
