MA in Sociology, South Asian UniversityTridib (he/they) is a Sociology researcher, currently pursuing their PhD at IIT Guwahati. Their research focuses on the relationship between urban space and morality in the context of sex work in Silchar, Assam. Their work foregrounds the varied ways in which notions of morality become central to the production and governance of Silchar’s sexual commerce, while simultaneously documenting the contestations that border the town’s red light area. They have presented their research in various academic and non-academic platforms.
In addition to their academic profile, they have also worked with civil society organisations, offering their research and policy consultations. They have also authored articles for media portals such as The Wire and Eleventh Column, on issues ranging from science, electoral politics, popular controversies and moral panics. At Ashoka, they are committed to supporting students by imagining writing as both a pedagogical and political tool, one with the potential to bridge the knowledge produced within academia and outside of it.
