Semester Abroad Programme
Ashoka University offers students the opportunity to spend one semester abroad at a partner institution, gaining valuable academic and cultural experiences. During this time, students can enroll in courses aligned with their major or minor, which are then transferred to their undergraduate degree at Ashoka.
Spending a semester abroad provides students with the chance to immerse themselves in a different academic environment and explore diverse cultural perspectives.
How to Apply
The Office of Global Education organises an annual Semester Abroad Townhall to provide information about partner universities and the nomination process. Following the townhall, a Google form will be shared, listing universities open for nominations. Students can indicate their top three university preferences.
Required Documents
- Transcript: Available from the Ashoka Registrar’s Office.
- CV/Resume: Highlighting your academic and extracurricular achievements.
- Essay: A tailored essay for each university you are applying to.
- Study Plan: Research courses offered by your chosen universities and prepare a tentative plan. This will help you understand credit requirements and course load.
Application Steps
- Attend the Semester Abroad Townhall: Learn about partner universities and available programs.
- Research: Explore courses at your preferred universities and align them with your academic goals.
- Submit the Google Form: Indicate your top three university choices.
- Upload Required Documents: Include your transcript, CV, essays, and study plan.
- Await Results: If shortlisted, you will be called for a brief interview with the Office of Global Education.
If selected, follow these steps:
- Accept the offer.
- Share necessary documents.
- Apply on AMS for course approvals from Ashoka faculty.
- Complete your application on the host university portal.
- Await the acceptance letter.
- Begin the visa application process.
- Update your course details on AMS if needed.
- Finalise your course registration with the host university.

Financial Information
- Ashoka does not provide additional financial aid for semester abroad programs.
- Students nominated by Ashoka will pay Ashoka tuition fees for the semester, but must cover living expenses and other costs abroad.
