Axis Bank Post-doctoral Programme at Ashoka University
Applications are invited for the new Axis Bank Post-doctoral Programme at Ashoka University. A mentor who is a faculty member in the department of physics at Ashoka University should be contacted before starting the application process. A proposal drafted by the applicant and submitted with the mentor’s approval is required. Candidates are advised to check the departmental webpage for faculty research interests to decide on a potential mentor. The deadline is 5:00 p.m. IST on June 30, 2026.
The following will be required for the complete application process –
- A cover letter providing the name of the mentor and indicating the overlap of interests with the mentor’s research
- CV of the applicant, providing academic trajectory, published papers and the names of 3 referees
- Copy of PhD and master’s degree certificates and any other relevant documentation.
- A joint research proposal with the mentor containing a brief (2 pages or fewer, single-spaced, including background, key objectives and significance) description of the proposed research project.
- Two letters of recommendation from among the referees listed.
Once a candidate has been selected, a joining date can be decided by mutual consent. This should be within three months or earlier of the offer being made. The contract can be renewed, based on a satisfactory evaluation, for an additional year. Postdoctoral fellows can be asked to teach a course, if suitable.

Letters of recommendation are also to be sent to these email addresses. Please include the name of your prospective faculty mentor in the email.
Axis Bank-Ashoka Post-doctoral Fellows with less than two years of post-PhD experience will receive INR 80,000 per month + 10% HRA along with medical insurance coverage of INR 1.5 lakh. Those with more than two years of post-PhD experience will receive INR 1,00,000 per month + 10% HRA, along with medical insurance of INR 1.5 lakh.
The Axis Bank – Ashoka Post-Doctoral Fellowship is open only to Indian nationals.
