Focus Areas
In the first phase, two interdisciplinary centers would be established: one that facilitates innovative pedagogy for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and another that supports multiple research themes in the area of synthetic biology.
The school will focus on developing tools for real-time visualization and measurement of cellular processes and address fundamental questions such as physiological control of major metabolic pathways and mechanical forces regulating cellular responses. In the applied front, research themes would also include molecular and physiological mechanisms of drug resistance in infectious pathogens, developing sustainable technologies for ever increasing demands for energy and environmental protection.
The centres and discoveries will capitalize on Ashoka’s strengths in communication skills and entrepreneurship strategies to take the research output to society through better management and sustainable approaches.
