Graduate Assistantship in Computer Science
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected a number of Indian students who were headed to international institutions for a PhD program. In order to provide engagement to higher education aspirants, the Department of Computer Science at Ashoka University has created a special program for qualified candidates.
Students with confirmed admission with full scholarship for a PhD in Computer Science at reputed universities overseas who are unable to take up the offers due to pandemic or other visa related issues, are eligible to apply to this program. The applicants should also fulfil the Department of Computer Science, Ashoka University’s eligibility criteria for a PhD in Computer Science.
To the selected candidates, Ashoka University will offer a consolidated stipend of Rs 35,000 per month. Selected students are expected to assist faculty in undergraduate teaching. They may also attend graduate level courses during this period, and assist faculty in research. Students are expected to commit at least one full semester and a maximum of two semesters to the program. At the end of two semesters, students may opt to apply for admission to Ashoka’s PhD program. If selected, time spent and courses completed during the Graduate Assistantship will be considered as part of the requirements of the PhD program.
Applicants are required to submit a long form (2 pages) Statement of Purpose and a detailed CV along with their application. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel of faculty members from the Department of Computer Science.
