Cognitive Control and Decision Making
Research conducted under this thematic area includes:
- Cognitive Control and the Multiple-Demand Network: This project uses fMRI to examine how the frontoparietal multiple-demand network supports goal-directed cognition, and how its activity reconfigures with increasing task complexity, time pressure, and reward.
- Behavioural Science for Foundational Learning: This project designs and evaluates low-tech, behaviourally informed interventions to improve parental engagement and teacher adoption of effective foundational literacy and numeracy practices in rural Indian classrooms.
- Decision-Making Under Uncertainty: This project uses eye-tracking and process-tracing methods to study how people evaluate risk and reward, from compound lotteries to digital payment adoption, revealing the strategies underlying everyday choices.
- Machine Learning for Social and Behavioural Prediction: This project applies machine learning to non-sensitive behavioural indicators to build screening and segmentation tools for social challenges such as intimate partner violence and vaccine hesitancy.
