Young Scholars Programme: Tech, Data & Computer Science

Dive into the Future of Tech!

Embark on a futuristic journey with YSP Tech, Data & Computer Science (TDCS), a comprehensive, certified, five-day, residential programme tailored for high-schoolers, from grades 9,10, 11 &12, eager to navigate the dynamic world of cutting-edge Technologies, Data and Computer Sciences. YSP TDCS offers a hands-on approach to developing solution-driven tech, data & CS solutions from idea to Intellectual Property (IP). It is an experiential journey, meticulously crafted for young scholars who crave challenges and are excited to locate creative solutions in the ever-growing field of TDCS. 

Under the mentorship of Ashoka’s global faculty, students will immerse themselves in the foundational concepts of coding and data sciences, advancing to the realms of artificial intelligence, automation, and robotics. This immersive exploration ensures scholars grasp both the theoretical and practical applications of these transformative technologies. Our Young Scholars will explore diverse possibilities and questions, like discovering how self-driving cars work or how Netflix suggests your next binge-watch? Or, becoming a digital detective and uncovering hidden patterns and solving real-world problems with data analysis. Beyond tech, students will immerse in dialogic sessions that delve into pressing topics like cybersecurity ethics, and tech-driven entrepreneurship. Have you wondered about the ethical considerations of AI or the intricacies of data protection? This programme offers insights into these and more.

Hands on projects at YSP TDCS: Beyond these sessions, our young scholars get to have a face-off with these transformative tools where they engage in hands-on live experiential projects in our MakerSpace Labs sessions. These workshops provide scholars the opportunity to apply emerging technologies, turning labs into innovation hubs by building AI bots, utilizing 3D printing, building games, designing visual reality experiences, developing bioinformatic tools, developing tech that operates through solar power, or modeling data for good. From understanding the algorithms behind your favorite streaming recommendations to exploring the vast potential of IoT, the learning journey is both diverse and exhilarating.

By the end of YSP TDCS, students will be equipped with a profound understanding of the tech landscape, ready to innovate and lead in the digital age.

As with all YSP programmes, we emphasize a holistic experience, blending academic rigor with cultural, sports, and social enrichment, encapsulating the essence of a comprehensive college experience.

YSP Faculty sessions are conducted by leading academicians in their fields, applying an interdisciplinary and experiential learning  approach to some of the most path-breaking developments of our times. Through faculty sessions on topics such as Human Centric Design, Digital Humanities, Technopreneurship, Digital Health, and Ethical Questions in Technology, students will engage in the 21st-century applications, within the world of Tech, Data, and CS, in solving problems such as organ imaging, brain mapping, handling & computing large data sets for effective and efficient policy making.

But the exploration doesn’t stop there. Scholars will dive hands-on into the expansive tech universe, experimenting with Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and 3D printing. They’ll harness the potential of web application development, fortify their knowledge in cybersecurity, and even design AI chatbots. With a glimpse into machine learning, students are set to emerge as informed and inspired tech enthusiasts, ready to lead the digital age.

Programme Schedule

YSP TDCS days begin with engaging and thought-provoking faculty sessions that delve deep into the many fundamental questions around Data, Technology, and CS, and its allied disciplines and engagement with social sciences and other sciences. Students interact with the best, world-renowned Ashoka faculty and are introduced to the cutting-edge work they are engaged in.

As the day progresses, students proceed to the MakerSpace labs and work on capstone projects that immerse them in concepts like ethical hacking, 3D printing, AI bots development, data-set analysis, among many others.

Learning Outcomes

Becoming a Young Scholar of the Tech, Data, and Computer Science Programme will ensure that students are ready for a myriad of possibilities that await them. They will develop unique problem-solving skills along with the ability of adaptability that will ensure their skills can turn transferable. Some of the outcomes include:

  • Creative Thinking Skills: Our YSP TDCS scholars may become creative thinkers who build careers in the traditional domains, as well as more unconventional spaces as they will be able to put their creativity to use in interdisciplinary careers including, but not limited to, informatics, tech policy, innovation consulting, among many others. 
  • Collaborative Problem Solving: Engaging in group discussions and workshops, scholars will enhance their collaborative skills, learning to work with diverse perspectives to design impactful solutions to pressing challenges.
  • Realworld Application: Through hands-on projects and case studies, students will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and its practical application in our MakerSpace Labs that offer students interesting challenges.
  • Ethical Considerations: Students will delve into the ethical dimensions of technology at their disposal. They will be encouraged to emerge as responsible and effective problem-solvers. 
  • Networking: Engaging with industry leaders, peers, and faculty will provide students with valuable insights and connections, fostering a robust academic and industry network for future endeavors.
